What is Arts Blurb?

Hi all, thanks for checking out Arts Blurb. This is a blog founded by me, Lauren John, a Chelmsford based Freelance Writer. I set up the blog partly due to much encouragement from some of my local music and media friends, and partly because I wanted a manageable way to continue to write about music, entertainment, and other creative things. The blog will be updated as often as possible with event reviews, cd reviews, features, and other interesting bits and pieces. The focus of the blog is Chelmsford and Mid Essex, and will feature things and people who live in, or get creative in the area. Expect music, Street Theatre, Festivals, Comedy, and some crafty things as well!

This is me, my passion, and my honesty, but I’m not the only one involved in Arts Blurb (see below)!

Who’s In The Arts Blurb Team

Lauren John (essexwriter10): I am the founder of Arts Blurb, and for those who don’t know, I have spent 10 years writing about music. I have written for local papers and lifestyle magazines, national music websites, and taken on some music pr work. I love to listen to music and give an honest opinion on it, but I love photography, craft, street theatre, and other creative things. Hopefully a combination of all these, will mean ‘Arts Blurb’ will become ‘the word’ for local arts, entertainment and music!

Pippa Seymour (pawsnthoughts): Introducing contributor, Pippa Seymour. Pippa joins ‘Arts Blurb’ as a keen music fan, who you may have seen lend weight to a certain Matt Cardle’s X-Factor campaign. She’ll be contributing various bits and pieces to the blog, along with reporting on some gigs at High Barn, a stunning venue in Great Bardfield.

Janie Burden: Janie is a keen photographer, and also likes to dabble in the world of photoshop/graphical things. She designed our header logo, and although she doesn’t come from Chelmsford, Lauren met her here, so we’ve adopted her as a team member.
