Olympic Couch Potato

You may have been wondering why Arts Blurb has been a little quiet lately, well there is one very good reason, The Olympics. I am a big Olympics fan, and have been excited ever since it was announced the games were coming to London. Now it’s here I have been glued to the screen as much as possible, getting into the Olympic spirit, and watching not only my favourite sports, but others I wouldn’t normally get the chance to watch as well.

That is the great thing about the Olympics, everyone gets into it, everyone has some story to tell, and it’s an experience that you remember for a long time to come. Add to that the games being in London, and the sheer waves of support for the games and Team GB, and you have something quite special. It’s hard to explain, but it just makes me smile, and makes me emotional, when I get just a flavour of the shouts, cheers, and Union Jack flags waving from the TV coverage.

I am over joyed that Andy Murray won two medals in the tennis, have enjoyed some of the cycling, equestrian, athletics, diving, and swimming, and have watched excellent performances in the sailing, rowing, and gymnastics. I have never been prouder as a Brit, and Team GB’s performances just keep on coming! I was expecting it all to be inspiring, and it’s delivered ten times over!

It’s not local, it’s not arts, but it’s sporting entertainment on a grand scale, and deserves a mention. I am enjoying every minute, and like many I am sure, don’t want it to end!

Team GB, London 2012, can’t we just do it all over again please?
